Just wanted everyone to know that Joshua's count was 150!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im over the moon, ready to close the street off to have a HUGE party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First time over 100 since August!!!! That was while on antibiotics, while sick, and on lowered pred!!! OMG, Im so happy I just wanted to share with everyone, we all need some good news sooner or later!!! Im not letting my guard down I know how quickly things can change especially with Josh, BUT I AM going to revel in this for a while, and enjoy it and hug my child every second and let the world know!!!!!!!
Hope this sheds some hope for those children who are still new to this and trying to deal with the emotional rollercoaster, it never stops but there are these great moments to look forward too!!!!! Down to 10mg of pred now...for two weeks. Hope he hangs in there!?!? He has never been that high even with the methylpred that he had the scary life threatening reaction too.....

Wishing crazy high counts for everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's not good, the blood pressure, hope it comes down soon.

BTW, is it nice and cold there in Ontario, because i'd sooooo love to be there right now. I am sweltering in the heat right about now, so i'd love to trade places if anyone is happy to come to Oz for a while in my place lol

:) :) :) :) :) GOOD platelet count
:( :( :( :( :( BAD blood pressure

Hope Josh has them both going in the right direction very soon.

Ali

P.S. Its not just the newly diagnosed that like to see kids with normal counts - after getting on for two years, it gives me a lot of hope for my son too!!!

Hi everyone, thanks for the happiness...unfortunately the head of transplant called me today, the doc herself and she NEVER calls...Josh's bloodpressure is WAY too high, average 148 at rest. They've doubled his bp meds, and want to do another 24 hour study in four weeks. They also want to do a GFR scan on his kidneys to make sure of function... She did say that despite the pred being weaned, it could take quite a while for his bp to come back down, she also said that ALL the meds he's on can cause hypertension! How can you be so happy one second, and then so scared and down the next??? Im an idiot, I have an ITP kid, thats how it goes! Anyways, he's feeling okay. Not happy about having to go down to the hospital for the GFR, he dosn't understand why if his numbers are so good, why does he have to have a test thats not terribly nice???

Its freezing here, oh my god, and the SNOW!!!!!!!!!!! Holly cow we are piled with snow!!! Ill send some to OZ! I hate heat, but this is rediculous!!!

Glad to hear he got his first normal count! I know it is such a great feeling!

Sorry to hear about his bp readings. Caitlin has had high bp readings many times, but I guess it's never been so high that they've needed to put her on meds. I hope the increase in bp meds helps get Josh's under control. I do hope it is prescription-induced hypertension so that his bp will normalize once everything is out of his system. Keeping our fingers crossed that normal bp readings follows his normal platelet count soon! :)
