I think Caitlin is either already in remission or is headed there VERY soon! She's had 5 weeks of normal counts in a row and last week, her dosage dropped down to the minimum dose! Her counts the last 5 weeks were 185, 156, 204, 314, and this week it was 226! I have to give her possibly the last injection tonight! They said they've never had a patient with this high counts on the minimum dose at their hospital so they have to call Amgen to see what the next step is. It would be so awesome to get a break from the drs appointments, especially since we've been going weekly the last 3 weeks due to being above 200. I have a feeling we will have to continue weekly for a few weeks if she stops to track her counts only because of the trial!

Wishing everyone lots of platelets his upcoming holiday season!

Sandi-yes, I do wonder why but i am almost positive it is the Rituximab from last March. I will definitely take it and I dont even blink anymore when she gets hurt. She had about 6 bruises last week but they were real good, hard-earned bruises! :)

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and Caitlin!!! What a brilliant christmas present that would be - I imagine that even staying at the lowest dose with good counts would be a fantastic present!

Well, well!

Pauline, I couldn't be more pleased to see a slew of NORMAL numbers! Guess you'll know if it's the Rituxan when Caitlin stops the N-Plate and still maintains these great counts! B)

And if so....next, you get to reduce the doctor's appts. and blood draws. :silly: Hopefully the Amgen protocol won't make you keep coming back for monthly follow ups for long.

It's heavenly when it happens! Merry, jolly, happy, blessed Christmas! Oh, and: To infinity and beyond!!! Ann, Caitlin's (23) Mom

Not quite there yet since she still has to get another dose tonight. Her count today was still good, 102 on the minimum dose. We will give her the same dose. She did have a heavy 10-minute nosebleed yesterday morning but I know this was due to the weather rather than ITP.

Have to return again next week but at least Im still on break. Hope her counts sustain so we can skip a few weeks at the hospital.

You all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Hope 2011 brings more children into remission from ITP and more can have some restrictions lifted on what they love to do! Thank you all for being our rock during our ups and downs through 2010!
