===============================
My son is 31 month old. And he had Kawasaki at 18 months.
At that time, he had IVIG 1dose. And it heal him completely in 1 day.

Now he had ITP and it is started on 1/1/17, I found 4-5 petechia on his belly and hip.
1/5, I and my wife noticed that my son has so many bruise all over his body and more petechia (about 30).
1/6 we visited primary pediatric doctor
1/7 do blood test.
1/8 Primary doctor alert that my son has platelet count was 12, and we went to ER.
In ER, my son did one more blood test, and the platelet was 6
He got IVIG 1 dose at night.
1/9 Platelet up to 9
1/10 Platelet up to 22, and hospital let discharge my son.
1/16 Follow up blood test, and hematology doctor alert again that his platelet went down to 6 again. Also his white cell goes down below 300
We went to ER again, and he got IVIG 1 dose again.
1/18 Platelet up to 12, hematology doctor request bone marrow test, immune related blood test and other 3 more blood test.
All the test was negative. So, doctor confirm that he has ITP.
The doctor prescribe prednisolone 15mg/5ml 2time per day for 7 days 2.5ml 2time for next 7..... for 4weeks plan.
And they discharge him again because they can't do anything at the time.
1/19~24 My son vomit for first 2days because of the medicine. but he could take the medicine
1/24 He start to keep spitting and not to take the medicine from the night. We struggle more than hour, but he don't take it at all.
1/25 Follow up blood test, And let doctor know about that he don't take medicine anymore. The doctor don't want to push him to take the medicine.
1/26 Doctor Checkup. Platelet count is 23. White cell neutrophil up to 450. The doctor prescribe methyl-prednisolone by IV to my son.
1/27 One more methyl-prednisolone by IV.
1/31 Follow up blood test, Platelet count is 21. White cell neutrophil up to 620. The doctor said that she found the platelet sizes are bigger than normal.
And she will not give anymore medicine for my son.
2/1 He fall down his face on a toy, but he doesn't get bruise. He looks don't bruise anymore in minor bump.

Now, we are waiting for next blood test.
Other than ITP, he is very active and happy. However after hospitalize, he is quite cranky. I and my wife try to give him IPAD and watching TV most of time. But this is not a good way for him.
It already over 4 weeks which is normal decreasing period, but the platelet does not up, and treatment seems are not work as well.
I am so afraid and worry about my son, it seems like very abnormal case. I hope he does not permanent ITP, and do not Splenectomy.
Many article said, if medicines are not working well(platelet should up around 200 in after IVIG), it is more like the permanent ITP.

At the same time, I read others stories, and I thanks GOD that he is still alive.
Hope, everyone will get good news, GOD will heal us and save us.

ITP in children is often acute, and you have a long way to go before worrying about permanent ITP. Just take one day at a time for now. Platelets are larger in people with ITP, that is normal. Your son's case is not that abnormal...it can take time o get the counts up. Many times, children are not treated at all and doctors take a 'wait and watch' approach.

I know it seems scary, but most children do well with ITP. Death is very, very rare.

As a parent, I worry too much.
Thank you Sandi, your words comfort me.
We are keep watching him and trying to make him happy.
Also I keep thinking that he may have problem genetically.(But I and wife's family doesn't have any related disease history.)
He had Kawasaki and ITP, the two disease are related blood problem and Unconquered diseases.
But there is nothing I can do. Keep paying and giving him some good nutrition.

hyunmo83, would it be safe to say that your son probably gets bruises and/or petechia when his counts are below about 10?
Is the doctor not wanting to give any more medications because his count is 21, or he is not bruising, or ?

I am a parent too so I do understand worry very well. It's a perfectly normal reaction.
It sounds like you are doing everything that you can. You can't do any more than that.

You know that Platelet count system may not fit depending on the quality(size) of the platelets. It is hard to say he is safe with count 10~20. We have to monitor him carefully.
The doctor said, she only do treatment under count 10. Also, his platelet side is getting bigger than before. So she want to keep monitor him until next checkup (this Thu).
Also, from last Sat, he has new petechiae about 6 spots. I report to doctor with pictures. But the doctor want to wait until the next checkup..

A few petechiae are usually not a problem. If they get worse or he starts to bruise, you can always call again.
