My 2 yr has itp it keep coming back was created by daniellestephens84
my, ...son was diagnosed with ITP October 2014.when we took him in he was covered in bruises and a rash all over his body his levels were at 10,000. went back in a couple of days later and his levels have dropped down to 5000 the doctor was comfortable with me monitoring him after being tested every week for a month his level slowly rose... I believe they got up to 23,000 and stayed there for about a month then he had a cold and they drop down to 3000 we monitored him again and after about a month they went up to a 129k. it has been a little bit over a month since we have had his levels tested he has a small cold again and he is bruising and has the rash all over including in his mouth I am going to have him tested again tomorrow but I am just concerned about the doctors aren't doing enough is this normal? we thought last timethings were going in the right direction but do is it normal for them just to keep monitoring them when they go up and down is he going to have the symptoms every time he is sick ?
the doctor said that it should go away but it hasn't

It sounds like you have a doctor who knows how to treat children with ITP. It is normal not to treat children as the treatments tend to be far worse than the disorder. It is a good sign that your son's count goes up on its own after illness. He will probably completely recover from ITP in time. Sometimes it takes 6 months, sometimes a year or so.

Let us know how it goes.
