Jenn:

Win-Rho used to be one of the easiest, side effect-free treatments available. It was given by injection over 3 to 5 minutes and people were sent on their way. Over the years, they began to realize that some people were having rare, serious reactions so they changed the method of administering the drug. Patients are now pre-medicaticated and the drug is given slowly by IV. All precautions are taken, and it is safer now than it has ever been. I wouldn't say it's the safest treatment there is, but it's certainly not the worst. Most people do fine with no side effects and if they respond, it can last a few weeks or months.

What Sandi said, plus I'd also add that you might want to hear specifically from parents of children with ITP because our experience as adults might be very different.

It might help if I put this in the right section, huh? :)

I haven't seen many children using this treatment lately though, so responses may be slim.
