Last dose of Rituxin was created by Val715
Today is my son Domenic's 4th dose of Rituxin. I have to say his first dose was bad and I almost didn't want to continue with the rest. With the second and third doses he thankfully had no side effects. His platelets were at 2000 at first and second rituxin treatment and the morning of his third treatment they were at 131,000 . I was overjoyed because they stayed below 10,000 since diagnoses. And this morning before his fourth dose his platelets are 396,000. Everything else he was given never helped his platelets and I sure do pray that his platelets will stay up. I was scared to death for him to get Rituxin. And I still worry and pray it doesn't have any bad side effects down the road on his body. But for now I am hopeful and can breath for the first time in awhile.

:) Val, thats so good to hear. And from what I read, people who respond fast and high like that are likely to get better remissions from rituxan. So, long may it last!

He went down to 13 :( I really wanted him better and had hope for the holidays. I know it could be worse but 20 sounded so nice and he just broke free from his helmet.

I am so very happy for u, I think about u often..So glad u came back with good news..and it is actually GREAT news :)

Congrats woman! I finished my 3rd round of the stuff too about 6 weeks ago. My are still holding nicely in the 290s! I wish your boy the best :cheer:

Update on Domenic after Rituxin. Well he has been doing amazing since Rituxin, his last count on Jan 19th was 338. The lowest its been since Rituxin was 206 so he has been in normal range since treatment. His immunoglobulin G, Qn serum is low but the hemo thinks it may be from the Rituxin so we will monitor it. I have to say Rituxin is a scary option but if it could work its worth a try. Nothing else worked for him so I had no choice. I still always worry about itp returning, I guess I always will. This board has been so helpful to me and am grateful for it.

Val, such great news! My son gets his 4th treatment on Tuesday and I would be happy if we get a result half as good as Domenic. Long may it last!
