Bleeding? was created by Val715
My 9yr old son was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with itp. He has been hospitalized twice already. And I'm just a mess with worry. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced bleeding with their child. My son had bleeding from the gums and nose which is truly frightening. He is currently on his second course of ivig and already was treated with winrho. But his highest count since diagnoses has been a 9 and is currently a 5. The bleeding is my biggest concern right now . I sure hope the ivig works this time. I'm truly heartbroken watching him go through this and worried sick.

Val:

Have you read this? www.pdsa.org/forum/12-newly-diagnosed/122-for-the-newly-diagnosed.html

I know you are afraid and feel helpless. The good thing is that ITP is usually temporary in children and if not, it is normally manageable. Read the posts written by other parents and you will find some comfort there. In time, things will seem less scary and ITP will not be the center of your life.
