india44 wrote: Oh god we have just been through the scariest week. After heading off for follow up bloods for my son a week after discharge his counts dropped back down to 2. We had 3 more days of watch and wait in hospital until his nose started to bleed and then by the evening he had vomited blood 4 t times all old until he started to vomit fresh blood and was so weak. His haemoglobin dropped and they ordered immediate transportation to the childrens hospital 3 hours away. He was given transomenic acid to stop the bleeding and finally ivig transfusions. His count fluctulatedbetween 3- 15000 then dropped again to 6000 before finally up to 76000 before we were discharged. Even going through my husband dying of cancer 6 months ago I have never been so terrified. I also feel an enormous amount of guilt feeling I Had passed itp on to him. The haemo however said she had 8 cases in 10 days and beleives that a virus that had been travelling around was responsible. I do hope it was an acute episode and does not become chronic for him.
