Kenalog - women only was created by Sandi
Has anyone ever had Kenalog injections? I've had them a few times for allergies years ago, but last month I had 8 injections in neck and back muscles. Since that time, I've had some night flushing and no menstruation. Those are listed side effects, but they also fit menopause. I was fine and regular until those injections. I'm trying to figure out which is going on. I guess I probably won't know for sure for a while. Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience.

A blood test to check hormones could answer your question, it is expensive though - however it sounds like you answered your own question when you said you were fine until the injections.

I had that test a few years ago - it came back inconclusive...I guess, borderline. I have not had any symptoms of menopause until now.

This cracked me up. The day after the injections, I went to my GP for a UTI and sinus infection. He said that I "must be long past my menstruating days". I was highly offended by that! No, I am NOT. I think he jinxed me.

Obviously your GP is a male - I'd get a new one, female ;)

Oh Sandi...what an awkward conversation! What did you say to him after he made the presumption? Don't feel bad, I am always having my age questioned...but on the other end of the spectrum. I got asked my age at a PG-13 movie once to make sure I was old enough to get in. and let it be known that I was 21 years old at the time! I was like What the #$%@! Until recently, I was always asked if I wanted a kids menu, too at restaurants. LOL! I'm sure you let him know in a round about way, right? LOL! I bet he "opened mouth and inserted foot" didn't he? And I'm with Melinda...a second opinion from a female might be a good idea :)

I generally don't like women doctors. I prefer men. The GP I saw the last time wasn't my regular one; I'd never seen this one before. Honestly, when he made the comment, all I was worried about was getting the antibiotic script and getting back to work. I blew his comment off (after a quick moment of feeling indignant) because he gave me the antibiotic I asked for so I forgave him. I was annoyed that the office even made me go in and didn't just call in the script, but oh well.

I left the office and in my rush, backed into a Fed Ex truck.

Oh boy, it seems when it rains it pours! I'm thinking that it's the injections too. Your not that old yet are you Sandi? And I'm not sure cuz I'm not quite to that age yet either (any year now though  ) but don't you get irregular before you totally stop bleeding? Or is it another case where everyone has a different senerio? I dunno. Guess I should research that one too!

It was a male endo I fired and then went with a female one - she keeps her word, she remembers my name, she knows what I was going through. Now my GYN, wouldn't have traded him for anything - he had daughters and understood - he had the nerve to retire. There are somethings I think a woman doctor understands for us females more than a male doctor.

Melinda - Heard and duly noted! I'll speak to the powers that be.

Gretchen - let's just say that I am around the age where it wouldn't be a big surprise, but I could also still have a few years left in me.

From what I've read, menopause is different for everyone. Some people stop suddenly and some have sporadic bleeding.

My Rheumatologist is female, no choice. I was disappointed but decided to give her a chance. I do like her. I've had bad experiences with women in the past though.
