Flight chaos

Hi, anyone having trouble with the flights through the volcano?
Our Angela & fam were due to fly back to Manchester from Florida last Thursday morning. Virgin put them up in a hotel and told the other day it will be atleast 29th April before they can fly back unless the volcano keeps erupting then it will be even longer! The news here just keep saying tomorrow we will decide 1am, 7am, 1pm etc. They have to pay for everything now and get refunded on return. They were lucky, British Airways passangers were told they were not going to put their passangers up in a hotel.
Disney and universal have given the stranded passangers free entry now so thats good too! They must be loosing millions.

It's unbelievable, isn't it? I saw a family on the news this morning who is American and were on vacation in France, I think. They've made their way to London now and are waiting to come home. They said the price of their holiday has now doubled and their kids need to get back to school, although they're sightseeing and making the best of it. For some reason, I thought the airlines would be putting people up in hotels or something, but I guess that's not happening universally. My husband works with a guy who has been stranded in London, but he's on business, so the company is paying for the extended stay at a hotel and he's continuing to work.

The 29th is a long way away! I hadn't heard that about Disney and Universal - that will keep them busy for a while. Can you imagine the chaos once all the airlines are flying again? Trying to sort out who has priority, etc. - yikes! Hope they get home soon!

I'm just hoping the hospital has enough Nplate until it's over. It got held up stuck at the airport in the snow once. Don't want it getting stuck somewhere again.

The UK airports have just opened up again & the first flight has landed from Toronto in Newcastle-suposed to be London but there was a guy who booked a flight yesturday and others who had been waiting since last Thurs. You would think they would close new customers and just get the long termers home first.

I just hope all the flights land and take off safely.
Im texting our Ang with the news and flight times etc from the UK as they have no info but virgin is sorting out a flight plan now and putting it on the website.

My daughter just got back from Europe the week before the volcano. Good timing! Her friend in Germany is a stewardess - out of work for now.

Our Ang has been told still the 29th April for the flight, they are apparantly all full up!
Did you see the nice people from Vegas who has had their holiday cancelled went to the airport and Adopted a family abandoned with no money at the airport, they took them home with them until they can get back home!

I actually thought about doing that...checking at the airport. It's an hour away though and I didn't have time to get down there.
