Recently we packed up the camper trailer & headed north on a much needed holiday & 'us' time together. Up through outback country, and on to National Parks with magnificent gorges & rivers to explore. Found some lovely camping spots & had a few camp fires.
As we were about to start the highlight of our trip heading toward Darwin & the Top End we received news that my 90 year old father-in-law had deteriorated & was not going to last. So we turned around and drove home - 3000 kms (1800 miles) in 3 days! We arrived 2 hours after Dad had passed away peacefully, but we were very relieved he is now in God's care. A week of funeral arrangements etc. & I feel 'jet lagged' for want of a better description.
Don't know when we'll get away again - there's my 91 year old mother-in-law to care for, grandies and our grain harvest to prepare for. . .

Thank you. Today was a wonderful celebration of an extraordinary life - from horse and cart to modern day tractors, from trapping wild rabbits for a few cents to seeing his grandsons manage their own farm properties, numerous sporting & community involvements & his faith in God to the end.
I'm so tired I can't sleep . . but it has been a very special family time together.
