Good Evening!

I am planning on entering the Great Lakes 100 Mile Triathlon/Duathlon in June of 2014. It is an extreme race that consist of either a 1 mile swim in lake Erie or a 1 mile trail run, then 85 miles on the bike, then a 15 mile run. Right now I am planning on doing the Duathlon as I just hate swimming in cold water. I believe that I can do the trail run in 9 minutes, then I think I can do the 85 mile bike ride in under 6 hours, I believe that the 15 mile run will take me 4 hours. I have never not finished a race that I have started.

I would like to run this race for all of us....

It is a bucket list thing for me.

I am not a fast athlete but I am determined.

I would like to solicit from everyone that is willing to provide me with input as to what I should do with my training and my diet. Also, another areas that I need to deal with that I have not had to deal with in the past. You may ask me any questions that you like. I will answer them. My health is an open book.

Also, no one my age has ever done this race. My age group is the same as Sandi's.

I will post my daily training efforts on this site. If you would like to participate in this effort with me as best you can, I would love to have you on the journey!

If this is only the beginning of your training Jeffrey, I think you're definitely well on the way to being able to do this triathlon. Good luck! I couldn't imagine doing anything like that.

Kristina,

I have done multiple triathlons and distance races and the like. This is just the first really long one! Also, the first long one since the diagnosis of ITP. I am also just coming off of knee surgery 7 weeks ago. I will never learn.... :)
