Some doctors, not all.

Joya I always thought Crocs would be great for nurses - that is until I tried to wash mine in the washing machine, they stayed up on top of the water so I'm not sure how clean they got. Also my kitchen floor is off-white tile and I noticed after walking over the floor I left Croc shoe prints on it - yuck if you are walking in the hospital and then come home and forget to take your Crocs off because then you've tracked the hospital into your house.

When we lived in Tokyo we took our shoes off just inside the apartment door, never wore shoes in the apartment - I think that is the best idea under the sun! Once we moved back home I still leave my shoes at the door but never could get husband and sons to do it.

[I'm not a nurse - daughter-in-law almost is, she likes Dansko shoes/clogs though]

I've not seen to many white coats, usually the younger ones who wanna look cool!
I do like the nurses outfits though. They have the cutest little smock things. Care Bears and Winnie The Pooh and on and on and on. I love it!

Umm some doctors in clinics, some in the ER, they are pretty much split here.... and eww to wearing shoes home... here they are not supposed to wear the same shoes inside that they do outside...

as for leaving your shoes on in the house.... i thought everyone did that and it grosses me out a bit when i go to someones house and they dont take them off...lol

ps - be carefull putting crocs inthe washer- sometimes that centre spinny thing can catch and distort them.

I take an old nail brush and put soap on them and scrub them off.... the dirt comes off pretty well... even the bottom ends up looking brand new after. :)

I was in the ED last night and in a ward today, i'm home now btw and i didn't see one doctor wearing a white coat at all. A couple of the younger male docs were wearing jeans and a scrub top and the other docs were wearing jeans or pants and a nice shirt and the women maybe a skirt instead of pants. The nurses in ED were all wearing scrubs, but in the ward the nuses had different uniforms, skirt/pants with a shirt with the hospital logo on it.

IN the UK, many NHS trusts frown on white coats, as an infection risk. Our dresscode is no ties, and either short sleeved shirts, or sleeves rolled up above the elbows.

Though one consultant at my hospital still wears a white coat...

I don't remember seeing a doctor in a white coat for ages!
I do remember the tea lady was the cleaner though when i was in. There was blood and coffee on the floor the 2days i was in & even though she came in gave a swish with a mop then a polish it didn't touch the blood and coffee. An old lady died in the corner bed, she was shouting help for ages, we pushed the button for her and they dismissed her as being a pain. A short while later she was silent staring at me half over the bed with her hand out, a girl in the next bed to her felt her and pressed the button to tell the nurse she had died. The poor old woman was alone as they sent her carer away who didn't want to leave her.
On the other side, i went to Sunderland hospital though for my BMB i had to go on the cancer ward and you could have ate your dinner off any piece of floor wall or furniture! It was spotless and there was no complaints from nurses, doctors or patients they were fantastic.
There are good and bad hospitals all over the world as well as the people that work in them.
