Yeast infections was created by EmilyK
I have the yeast infection that will not go away. Sorry to be graphic, but the white chunks are pouring out. Gyn first said it was a bacterial infection and put me on metronidazole (500) mg which did not do much so switched me to fluconazole (200)mg which i thought was working until tonight when it is back in full force. I have two more doses of the fluconazole to take. She also gave me the metronidazole in gel form. I was thinking of using that also until i can back in to see her.

I am on 50 mg of prednisone so i know the cause and figure i will need to stay on something to keep things under control in there until heaven comes to rescue me from prednisone.

Anything for anyone out there? Yuck.
Thanks

Moved.

Side effects are part of the ITP treatment package, then you end up on more drugs to combat those. Good luck, I hope it goes away soon. Try the gel.

That side effect may go away as you taper.

Hi Emily,
I have always been susceptible to thrush & have found taking probiotics helps.
Steroids are nasty. I usually get a large bottle of probiotic capsules & double the dose for a week or so, then the usual dose. Also cut out sugar as the yeast infection thrives on it. Natural yoghurt is also good.
Best wishes,
mj

thank you for the suggestions. I do have Kefir each day to try and help. My sugar intake is pretty minimal and I will add the probiotics to the multitude of supplements I am taking. I am ready to get off the merry go round, and know I have a LONG way to go.

Probiotics work great for people.

You did not hear this from me old wives tale or homeopathic from years ago. Nursing teacher gave me this info.

Yes, someone else on the list gave me that great advice and now me and my yogurt have a private moment before bed. No toxic effects, very inexpensive and so far, it seems to be keeping things in balance. Cheers!
