Leaky gut, meat, and platelets was created by Hal9000
Can someone help me? I was reading a mother's theory about how she eventually got her child's ITP into remission. Can't remember where
I read it. Could have been on PDSA or somewhere else.

The theory was if one has a leaky gut that consumption of meat was her child's problem. That meat gets into the blood stream and the immune system couldn't properly distinguish between meat and platelets. Once her child was off all meats for a month, counts went up to normal.

Anyone?

I do not know where you saw that but I think all of us are very different. I have not had meat for over 30 years and yet got ITP a few years ago. There is no action to take that guarantees high counts or low counts. Some of us do well on some medications and some do well on others, some see changes from diet changes and some do not. You cannot chase every suggestion. Do what works for you and what you can keep doing for the long term. Good luck.

That's kind of a weird theory and I don't remember seeing that. The body can't tell the difference between meat and platelets? From what I've read, leaky gut is mostly caused by gluten. Many Paleo eaters believe that the Paleo diet helps leaky gut, and Paleo includes meat.

Well, did a search on PDSA for the word 'meat'. Couldn't find the post. Must have read it somewhere else.

The search was not without reward though. I would like to thank 'zomzombie' and his hematologist for a great idea. Combine Danazol with Promacta. Brilliant. Take two drugs both with a reputation that includes remission possibilities.

With a remission possibility when given alone, these drugs must have the ability to repair one type of ITP - for those folks that have that single type. So, if one has more than one type of ITP, the chances of success should be higher when these two drugs are combined.

I am not sure whether this is what you looking for.

In this thread, Minnow mentioned "According to the website of Dr John McDougall, (who recommends a vegan diet for autoimmune disease sufferers) the immune system regards animal protein as foreign protein and sends out the attack squad, thus giving it more work to do."

And Owensmom said her son has much better count after vegan diet.

Did you mix these information together?

Right on the money tj. Thanks !

It is odd that I remembered the situation as one comment instead of several. After reading the entire thread, it was definitely Owensmom that I was thinking of / remembering.
