Hi, I am on here time to time and look through your messages, i think its important what this site does for people with ITP and even with other auto-immune disorders.
The reason i am on today is i wanted to start a topic in relation to Gluten. I found an interesting article relating to Gluten and its effects on the immune system. If you have ever heard of Celiacs disease, unlike other auto-immune diseases it has one known cause which is Gluten intolerance. That is profound in the sense that with any other auto-immune disease there is no way we can trace what caused us to get the disease in the first place. We scratch our heads daily wondering why we got it? I know genetics will determine your health to a certain point but in this article it seems like there seems to be a big connection between a leaky gut and auto-immune disorders. I have spent a lot of time wondering and trying to find out causes only to be told that they as yet dont know. But something does tell me that this may be something that researchers should look into more. I know there are plenty of factors playing in auto immune disorders like where you live, your genetics etc. But what if we can improve our lives by eliminating Gluten. Basically a high precentage of people with auto immune diseases dont have healthy intestines and are more prone to a gluten intolerance. Any thought? I am not saying you wouldnt get an autoimmune disease but does gluten make it worse. This is the link
