Natural Remedies for Mouth Ulcers? was created by Jennprov22
I was diagnosed early December 2012 (yes not that long ago). At that time, I felt pretty good--just bruising and petechia. Now. . some treatments later (massive doses, including infusions of steroids, platelets and IVG (?) and daily doses of Prednizone, I feel worse than ever! I'm goin' off the Pred so that may be partly why.. levels had dropped down again. . .and mouth full of ulcers (which I did not have before.

I've tried:

Warm salt water rinses

Baking soda directly on sores

And believe it or not, early on--peppermint candy and anything with mint in it (mouth rinses like ACT, tooth paste. . . seemed to help!

Now while these things kind of make them feel better, nothing seems to be healing them up.

Suggestions?

Years ago when I had canker sores frequently Mom kept a bottle of Dr Hall's Remedy. You used to be able to get it at the pharmacy counter, but I haven't seen it in years. It was a thick syrup that was heavy with Zinc and I think it has a small amount of Borax. Mom would make us take a spoonful and swish it for several minutes then swallow in the morning and evening. Would usually clear them up in a couple of days.

my mouth ulcers cleared up on there own over time. I was just diagnosed on 12/28 and I agree that the Prednisone is more problem than the platelets. Mine haven't gone over 11. Let me know how things go for you.
