Immune system .. was created by bell1138
I have started my 6 year old on a multi viatamin with immunity support and I'm trying to give we more fruits and vegetable in order to make her immune system stronger. My husband was telling me that was us distroying her platelets is her immune system that's why Rey give patients with low platelet steroids in order to suppress their immune system so it won't distroy the platelets. Anyone know if this is true?

Yes it's true. The immune system is making antibodies against the platelets and steroids and other immunosuppressants stop the immune system from doing this.

But it is actually doubtful whether the supplements are actually doing anything to the immune system.

A quote from the below link says..

"Many products on store shelves claim to boost or support immunity. But the concept of boosting immunity actually makes little sense scientifically."

There is anecdotal evindence that supplements such as Echinacea can trigger autoimmune disorders or exacerbate them. You should be careful about what you take or give your son. If you're not sure, don't do it.

Fruits and vegetables won't cause any harm.

any idea how this disorder goes into remission? I have not been officially diagnosed with anything, my plateles have gone from 105,000 last october to 65,000 this may. Dr's say dont lose sleep yet, no one is giving me a diagnosis or any sort of treatment options. I am going to start the papaya extract as mentioned on this we blog. Your thoughts?

There is no sure way to attain remission. Some achieve it with certain treatments, but if you don't have a spontaneous remission, there isn't any way to make it happen.

Your counts are still safe and you wouldn't want to treat just yet.
