Chicken feet broth??? was created by bell1138
Has anyone heard of chicken feet broth for itp. I know a lady that use to make it for her husband when he was sick with cancer and his platelets would go down. Swears that her husbands platelets would go up. She said he would spend the day drinking the broth. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try. I'm going to make some for my daughter. The good thing is that she loves soup...anyone heard of this or have any thoughts???

Interesting that you brought this up. My niece was just telling me about this the other day. She's had lifelong problems with food allergies and sensitivities, been told she has 'leaky gut' by a number of doctors. She has recently begun drinking these broths daily a few times, and has already seen some improvement with her digestion and is beginning to gain some weight (a good thing for her, as she was underweight and malnourished.) She sent me these links, and I do think it sounds plausible that it would have some affect on the bones, and so platelets.

BROTHS FOR HEALING THE GUT

This is a really intriguing article about how something as simple as a broth can help the body to repair itself. Similar to homeopathy, it’s using the principle of letting “Likes cure Likes”, a principle of healing that has been around since the days of Hippocrates:

Here’s another recipe:

Sounds good, too!

You're welcome, Bell.

I've actually had those links in my mailbox for a couple of weeks now, but had not made the time to read them.
Glad you inspired me to. I think I will try it this week.
Thanks!

It's new to the forum so I've added it as number 66 on my list of the weird and wonderful ITP cures.

OK, this is my first comment in the 'natural treatment' section (I generally go for conventional medical treatment).

I was raised on a farm, and we certainly made chicken-foot soup from our chickens. It is a wonderful, rich broth, since a lot of gelatin comes off when you cook the feet. I have no idea if it does anything for platelets, or a leaky gut, but it is certainly 'good for what ails ya'. Since my grandmother was Jewish, of course I have a familial belief that chicken soup is a necessity of life.

In other words, make it and enjoy it! It certainly won't hurt, and will be good for your attitude.
