Hi Sunny,
The treatment you're describing would be more accurately called naturopathy, rather than homeopathy. The two are often confused, as well as, frequently used in conjunction with each other. Homeopathy is actually a separate system of medicine which stands on it's own and is all that is needed in many cases. It was developed by a German physician, Samuel Hahnemann, over 200 years ago. He had quit his medical practice, noting that the treatments of the day were damaging, weakening and killing the patients, rather than the disease or ailment itself. (hmmm..treatments worse than the disease? So glad we've learned from history!). Heavy metals, such as Mercury and Arsenic were the gold standards of the day, and bloodletting was almost always done. (George Washington died from being bled to death. ). Medical leeches are actually bring used today in a controlled way, to help with bleeding in some surgeries, I believe. Interesting, but I don't know that I could ever get over the gross out factor on that one!)
Hahnemann, quit his profession in disgust. A scientist and chemist and all around curious being, he gradually developed the system of medicine that we now call homeopathy, based on the concept of like substances being used to cure like diseases. So, the disease must first be recognized in it's totality, meaning one has to look at ALL the symptoms being expressed by the patient, and not just concentrating on one small aspect. That's why it's crucial to look at all of the mental, emotional, other physical and general (sleep, appetite, sexual, energy) symptoms. As you will hear so frequently on this site--"Everyone is different and what works for one will not work for another"--well, yes, that is what homeopaths have been saying all along! Homeopaths don't really treat a specific disease, they are treating a person who happens to have disease xyz. Once the total pattern of symptoms is understood for that patient, it is matched to some substance in nature that produces similar symptoms. It might be a plant, animal or mineral or other.
Special diets, supplements, minerals and vitamins, etc, while being supportive of the body's inclination to heal, will seldom be enough to do the actual healing. That 'spark' of healing must come from an energetic source , so use an energetic medicine: homeopathy, Reiki, Energy medicine like Healing Touch or Touch of Matrix, Qi Gong, acupuncture, etc.
See if you can find a classically trained homeopath in your area. I do know one who used to live in Norway, but not sure if he's still there or not.
Best wishes,
April
