Hi Gen, sorry to hear you are experiencing a bad time at the moment.
Having platelets @ 5,000. Feeling tired, worn out, frustrated and depressed would be no fun. For you to feel you have no drive right now is definately understandable.

However, like you say "its times like this I need to just keep pushing on".
I once read at times like this it pays to focus on the future, because thats where you will spend the rest of your life. So move on from the past, deal with NOW no matter how hard, and focus on the future.

"I know, it's easier said than done".
The people who recently lost their homes & loved ones in the mid-West of USA to tornados will be saying the same thing. Here in New Zealand a place called Christchurch has had earth quakes in Sept, Dec, Feb, & today. The city centre is gone, factories. jobs, homes and loved ones. They started to rebuild & the next one hits some where else. No power, sewrage or water supply to parts of the city, roads, bridges and buildings damaged. It's now winter in NZ & Christchurch, and they got another earth quake today registering 6-0 magniture. People are tired, worn out, frustrated and frightened. But on TV tonight people said they will rebuild. They are looking forward to the future, with bigger and stronger buildings which will withstand the earthquakes.
Their optimism is amazing and contagious. We have to play the hand life gives us, as the saying goes "what does not break us makes us stronger".

The purpose of writing this Gen, is to give you hope and encouragement. To let you know that you are not alone. Please keep us in touch with your progress, when you feel up to it. Wishing you plenty of platelets and good times ahead.:)
Benny.

Oh my goodness  . I made the mistake of not checking this thread because I assumed all was well and good. I tend to stay out of this section because I have my own opinions that I'd rather not express, as tempting as that may be sometimes.

Please, let me remind everyone that Aretha Franklin begged for R E S P E C T and I am asking that you all do the same. Some of you are remembering to be polite and some of you are not (not naming names). There are nice ways to say things and there are mean, sarcastic ways to say things. It would make me soooooo happy to drop in and see that we've found the best, subtle words to get points across. I understand that it's not on the agendas of most of you to make me happy, but I'm asking anyway. :)

Hello everyone!
I apologize for not responding sooner. I have stayed away from the forums during the last 2 months or so. I appreciate the positive messages and the message of hope. I agree it is very important. The ITP Conference in Boston was just this passed week and it was amazing. My Mom and I went and had a wonderful time. We learned some really great things. Right now I am currently still getting Nplate injections but now we are adding prednisone to the mix and have found a response. Last week platelets were 120,000 and this week they are 525,000! WOOHOO!!! NOw we just have to find the right balance. In regards to the Colostrum I have stopped taking it. THere didnt seem to be a change and lost track of the dose times due to a very busy summer of travel among other things. Thank you everyone for your support! I hope this message finds you in good health! Have a great summer
Gen
