Hi everyone,
For those of you who have been reading my posts lately, sorry to repeat the background, but I'll try to be quick. I am 38 weeks 2 days pregnant and my hema started me on prednisone a few weeks ago to try to get my count up before I delivered. My counts went up for two weeks and then last week was down to 54 again, which the OB was not happy with. So I had IVIg yesterday and today. I had to do it at the hospital since it is a weekend anyway so I couldn't do it at an outpatient infusion center, but also because the OBs wanted me to receive it in the hospital in case I had a bad reaction or went into labor or something. They also wanted me to be hooked up to a fetal monitor periodically during the infusion to make sure the baby was okay.
The good news is that the infusion went well and I have had minimal side effects. I have a bit of a headache but nothing unmanageable. Now I am just crossing my fingers that I get a response, and quickly! On the fetal monitor today it was picking up contractions. I haven't been feeling them, but I really hope that the IVIg has a chance to work before I go into labor! I guess it's a good thing the doctors decided to start it on Saturday rather than wait until Monday.
So - wish me luck and cross your fingers for me that I respond to IVIg and get a quick response! I'm having my count checked again on Tuesday and if my count is up to 90 or 100 or so, I will be induced later this week (assuming I don't go into labor on my own in the meantime). I'm hoping I'm in the 75-80% of people IVIg works for!
