WOW!! Cindy, I couldn't help but smile while reading this thread! That is such fantastic news! I haven't been on the site in about a week and I couldn't be more thrilled for you!!! Is this not the greatest feeling on Earth? Like walking on air, huh? That's how I feel too! Nothing is taken for granted! I had Rituxan in March of 2009 and I've had counts over 200 ever since. My last count was 289!!! My last appointment was in June and my hema released me for 6 months!!! I go back in December! I am praying hard, hoping that the Rituxan is still working! Best of luck to you! I'm sure this will last you a long, long time! Yay for high platelets!

Hi Cindy I know it has been awhile since my last post. Franny finished the 4 retuximab treatements during October and was tested weekly after her # didn't pick up untill late November with a #56 but the suddenly plumeted to 5 by mid Dec. Her ped. contacted her hemo. and on arrivial for exam her # was @ 16 only three days later. Hemo gave IVIG one 400 unit we have been home for two weeks and will get another count tomorrow. Franny likes to post on the kids thread and I will post on the parents thread tomorrow.

Sorry to hear the Rituxan didn't work for Franny, Ed. :(

I am still in the 300k range as of my last blood test. I see my hema tomorrow, and may get to go longer before having tests. I've been off the pred since late December.

Well, I saw my hema dr. the other day. He's pleased with my counts. After my blood test this weekend, I can start going every 2 months. I'll see him again in the Spring. As long as my counts hold, he said he might be able to discharge me. Yea! I'll just have to wait and see what happens. Looking forward to a long remission!

Praise God - prayers for a long remission - so long that you virtually forget how to spell ITP

woohoo Cindy! You go girl! and as I say to my kids....don't come back! Not really, but you know what I mean! I'll be believing for a lifetime remission!

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Cindy, that is great news! I went to the hematologist this week (12th week after first Rituxan treatment) and my counts were 175. They had been around 50 in mid-December and he let me go six weeks between counts. It was such a great feeling to get a break on blood draws. Now I don't have to go back for 2 whole months.

I hope hope hope this lasts awhile!

Thanks, everyone! I'll keep my appointment for this Sunday and then no more tests for 2 whole months! Hopefully this high count will last for a long time.

Sarah, 175 is a great count!

Server, I know what you mean. :)

Steve, I don't think I'll ever be able to forget how to spell ITP! It's been a big part of my life since /04, but I'll try.
