Since prednisone lowers the ability to fight infection inhibit the healing process and causes infection should one take it with IVIG transfusion to increase platelet count for surgery? I don't really want to go with the prednisone to increase count.

If you are sure that IVIG works for you, you may not have to use Prednisone. A lot also depends on how quickly you will heal, for example, if you have a wound that may bleed a week or so following surgery, IVIG might wear off by then. In that case, Prednisone might be a good idea.

Prednisone can impede healing and suppress the immune system, but not if you are only on it for a short time.

Thanks Sandi for such good info. I guess I will do prednisone with transfusion. I feel better knowing this Sandi so thanks.

I was wondering if they can do surgery laproscopic with counts at 60-70 without major bleeding or will it have to be open surgery with counts below 140 in case you start bleeding doing surgery. I hope it can be done laproscopic > less healing time.

Your doctor would be the best one to ask about that. Good luck to you and I hope it all goes well.
