Hi everyone, hope your all ok.

Well, after my increase in platelet count to 21 last week I had hoped that this week would have been even better... but no, things didnt quite go that way.

On saturday I started coming out in bruises again.. massive ones and on sunday morning I had a bleed that wouldnt stop. I called my out of hrs doctor and they told me to go straight to the hospital. I had a blood test and low and behold my account was a big fat 1! They admitted me straight away and ive been on two days of IVIG. My consultant came to see me and tried to push the spleenectomy on me again. I was firmer this time and told him only having been diagnosed 4wks ago Im not ready for that and would like to try other treatment. Hes now talking about rituximab. I was discharged this morning so am going to do as much research about this before I go back in two weeks.

I feel so drained. The first day of IVIG was fine but since the second, I have had the worst headache ever! Its all fun and games!!

Just thought Id share my eventful week with you... Im so looking forward to a glass of wine tonight!! :)

I'm sorry you didn't get your increase. Were you on a treatment? I finished Rituxan almost 4 weeks ago and still haven't seen any results from it. The only noticable side effect from it for me was joint pain. It's still going on, even effecting my sleep the past week or so. Though I'm not sure if that's from the Rituxan or Nplate. I was on both at the same time but haven't had NPlate in almost 5 weeks now. I'm praying it works for you. Let us know what happens.

Redgirl,

I hate that that happened to you! You were doing so good! ITP can really creep up on you like that! It is not a friendly disease, for sure. I had a count of 185 before and returned to the doc. to find out that it had dropped down to 30! I know how hopeless and desperate you feel right now. I commend you on standing your ground while in the hospital. I am hoping that you find a treatment option that works for you, whatever it may be. I had one round of Rituxan about a year and 3 months ago and I am still in remission with high counts in the 200s! It is definitely worth researching and worth trying! If you have any questions, you know where to come! We are here for you!

Natalie, Congrats on the increase in your platelet count with the Rituximab. Did you have any side effects? Julissa
