Treatment In NYC was created by Lorie85
Summer vacation is here! school closed on Friday and i have 9 splendid weeks to recuperate from teaching. Off to New York on the 15th of July. I'm just wondering. Anyone on the board from NY or the tri-state area? Could someone recommend a Hema familiar with ITP and preferably in the Promacta Program? Presenty on Azathipprine/ Imuran for the last 8 weeks and platlets have gone from 2k to 4k then to 1 k :( and my dr. is "strongly suggesting" splenectomy. (Gulp) But I LOVE my spleen....

Any suggestions/ recommendation are very welcome!

I am not from New York but was up there on vacation when I was diagnosed with ITP. I went to New York Presbyterian Hospital and was seen by Dr. David Diuguid. I liked him a lot and was very impressed with his credentials. You can see more info about him and his contact info through this link.

Hope this is helpful! Best of luck to you!

Lorie,

You are a teacher, too huh? I can't remember if we have discussed this before! Don't you just LOVE summer? *sigh* It is so hard to relax isn't it? I hope you recuperate and can take it easy and enjoy your summer!

P.S.: What grade do you teach? I teach kindergarten! :0)

Thanks everyone... I'll definitely be exploring those links.

Natalie i'm so ashamed to tell you this but i'm very very scared of little children. I really admire you for being able to teach them an deal with all those little balls of energy. I teach/ lecture at basically a community college my students run from between 16-20 years. I love it!
