Jazzen,

I have been following your blog on the water fasting. There are a number of water fasts that I know of to be very healing! The master cleanse is another one similar to what you're doing.

I wanted to comment on the immune system issue. 80% of the immune system is in the gut/intestinal system. ALL disease is caused by some malfunction in the immune system. Either it gets over active or under active (or in some cases, not active at all!). But natural medicine ALWAYS looks at the gut first. If 80% of our immune system is in the gut, then that's where healing begins. For many, this means looking at what what eats, food allergy tests, stool tests to look for candida, over runs of bacteria, etc. So, there's some more info for you to research.

I fully believe even "chronic" itp is curable. It starts with the gut, where most of our immune system is to begin with. If you're looking for natural healing, the book Gut and Psychology Syndrome by Natasha Campbell is an excellent place to begin. While her book deals largely with autism, mental disorders, etc. her basis and understanding of the immune system (ie. the gut) is phenominal.

Best wishes with the water fasting!

What about the combination of Rituxan and Dexamethasone that has put some patients into remission? Have you tried it or thought of it?

Please keep posting regularly. I am anxious to see how you do. I too have been considering non-treatment since the insurance company denied Rituxan. I won't do prednisone again. Good luck. I hope it all works out for you.

Jackie -
Same thing happend to me but unfortunately my platelets crashed after the H Pylori treatment. My platelets shot up to 211 from under 100 when I was being treated for Hpylori. After that, I asked to be tested to make sure it was gone. The blood test came back positive but the breath test came back negative. The Dr said the blood test will always come back positive. That killed my glimmer of hope. I'm still struggling with chronic itp, have been for 9 mnonths now. Nothing is working longterm. Haven't tried splenectomy yet but have tried everything else.

Hey JJ, I'm glad someone understands the CBC. I've read thatthe white blood cells are made up of several different components..like lymphocytes. On my son's CBC..his "WBC" has come back just below the normal "Low" side range. Does that mean all the components. Is it bad if it just below a few tenths of apoint?

KMC, if your son has had any treatments (especially ivig) that can make his white cells lower then normal. It's fine if there just tenths below normal. There are five types of white cells. Essentially (for an easy explanation), the percentage of each of those will total 100% of the white cells. For example:

neutrophils 50
lymphocytes 40
monocytes 10
eosnophils(sp) 0
basophils 0

No matter what happens, when a person's white cells move around, those five types will always add up to 100% in some way or another. One might go up, then another goes down. It's common to have little to none of the last two types of white cells.

The part you probably see on the top of the CBC is a number that is in decimal form. That's not a percent, it's an actual count of the cells like the platelets have an actual count.

People can live quite well with 500 neuts. It's low, but the body still fights infection pretty well at 500.

Hope this helps.
