Has anyone been treated with Win Rho since the black box warning? Did you have to wait for 8 hours after it was administered?

I haven't had to infuse yet, I'm at week 9 which is the longest I've gone so far. Yeah! But I did have an appt with my hemo last week and we talked about it. He had given the drug rep a bad time about a drug that chosen for it's shorter infusion time and then making the patient sit around or come back. He didn't indicate that he'd changed any protocol in his office, guess I'll see in a few weeks (or longer if I can hold!). I brought up the subject or we probably won't have talked about it.

While we'll probably never know what was the cause and effect that made the FDA add the black box label, the impression I got was that the broader use for any Thrombocytopenia (i.e, drug induced from chemo or natural effects of cancer) may have introduced the higher risks and the manufacturer is covering their backside.

I was talking to a drug rep a few weeks ago who was talking about a new concentrated IVIG that is infused in a much shorter time. I don't know which make it was because IVIG doesn't work for me so I wasn't taking notes but it sounds as if it might be a rival to WinRho.

since I've had WinRho more than 20 times, if I needed it again, I don't think the hema would make me stay.

Well, Friday's CBC showed I've dropped to 39 so I'm scheduled for next Friday's last appointment of the day. Since I've been using it for over a year, Doc says I don't need to stay.
