Remission after spleenectomy was created by kak
Hi,

My husband had spleenectomy on feb 5 2010.

His counts from spleenectomy till date are

after every two week :

440000
220000
103000
130000
110000
100000

can we consider it as remission? But the counts seems to vary little and it decreases is that normal?

Thanks.

I had a splenectomy April 1st. My counts have been 671,714,370 and 151 on Tuesday. From what my surgeon told me it is a good sign that my platelets shot up right after the surgery. That being said, with this crazy disorder we can only hope the splenectomy did the job. Only time will tell if our platelets will stay at a normal or at least a safe level. Think positive.

If he's been treatment free since then, I'd consider it a remission.
