Winrho has black box warning? was created by callysmommy
Wow, sure has been a long time since I've been here. Sure some of you will remember me, but it has been so long my name is no longer registered on here lol! But my doc said that winrho now has a black box warning, so I actually have to be admitted for 24 hours to make sure my kidneys don't fail when they administer it. But what's stupid is it doesn't even work until three days have passed. Either way, I've been in remission for 3 years now but I just thought that was interesting. Anybody else hear this?

Yes it was in the news not so long ago. I posted a message here at the time.

All the information is here www.medscape.com/viewarticle/718311

By the way it's a new forum so we all had to register again and start from scratch. The old forum is still there but only for reading.

Here's a couple links that don't require registration:

www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/SafetyInformation/SafetyAlertsforHumanMedicalProducts/ucm203739.htm

healthcare.utah.edu/pharmacy/alerts/452.htm

I had WinRho 3 times before I had my spleen out. Now I am no longer eligible (although so far, the splenectomy has worked perfectly).

Yes I was advised of this recently as I've been going for reg IV's of this. Fortunately my Dr didn't make me wait. I don't get it though, am I missing something? These concerns that they're making a big fuss about have always existed. Am I wrong, am I missing something? I thought I've seen these same warning on the pamphlet that I've gotten from inside the Winrho box, as well as the info from this site.

I'd guess there's been a few deaths recently which has caused a rethink and a stronger warning.

Strange that link needs registering. I got in through google and didn't register at all. Can't get there now myself though.. ooer.

I wonder if it could happen. I always got sick from winrho (fever, chills, vomiting, orange urine). But I was younger and perhaps my kidneys could take it. I always wonder what effects this would have on me in the future.
