I have just been put on Dapsone as a last resort.  Have ITP for 45 years, had a splenectomy and no problems until the last three years.  Have been tried on all available and funded ITP meds in New Zealand but my counts are consistently less than 10.  My haematologist is fixated with Prednisone even though I hate taking it and it is not safe for long term use. I would be on it constantly if she had her way cause every time my counts drop below 20 she ups the dose.
Any thoughts from members would be appreciated.

  • ITP since 2014. Retired nurse. My belief is empower patients to be involved as much as possible in their care. Read, read, read & ALWAYS question medics about the evidence base they use.

Can't comment on Dapsone but totally agree with you on Prednisolone. Horrid drug I hate it
