PREDNISONE DEPRESSION was created by Moe1327
I'm confused as to why others on this site say numbers of 30 are no cause for concern, but my doctor is concerned and doesn't want them to drop below 50. When I ask my doctor she says because they don't want it to become an emergency basis and my numbers drop to 1,000 and I end up in hospital. I'm trying to research and get as much information for ITP treatment, but from comments made to my questions, it seems my doctor maybe over reacting and my ITP is not that serious and should be left untreated.

Hi Moe. What dose of Pred are you on? I did the same thing when I was on a high dose. My poor dog didn't know what to make of me. I finally got one of my nurses to tell my doctor I couldn't take that high of a dose. I could never go more than 30mgs.

Yikes! She's keeping you on a high dose and you don't even respond to it? It sure doesn't seem worth it. Maybe get another opinion? The risks sure seem to outweigh the benefit here.

Honestly, going from 56 to 30 isn't a major cause for concern.

I agree; I would go so far as to say risks greatly outweigh the benefit.
If your count never goes below 30 why are you being treated?
Both ASH and BHS guidelines quite clearly state a count >30 only needs treating as a rescue; pre surgery for instance.
Time for a new doctor methinks.
