Relapse? was created by Wwfbader
Hey, it’s been a couple of years since i’ve posted on here. I was diagnosed with ITP at 17 years old and after rounds of IVIG, rituxan and prednisone; I finally decided to go with the spleenectomy in 2014, which put me in remission. I just came back from the family doctor after doing a blood test ( haven’t checked my counts since 2016) to find out they’re down to 65. I’m shocked as I was really hoping the spleenectomy would’ve put me in full remission. Should I officially rule my situation as a relapse, or can counts drop and rise after a sickness?

Counts can rebound after an illness. I wouldn't call it a relapse yet. Wait and see if they drop more in the next few weeks. It's possible that counts were slowly dropping and you didn't know it. That happened to me once when I blew off counts for a year and a half. However, only time will tell.
