Who has the most? was created by RodgerMac
Last week I completed my fifth Rituxan treatment. I’m just wondering how many more they can give me? I’d ask my doctor but after Tuesday May 1, she’ll no longer (she didn’t listen very well to me) be my doctor. I’ve got a few options for a new doctor, I actually get to tour one cancer facility and ask questions of the head nurse specifically about my non cancer case before deciding on the doctor. Thanks Rodger

Some people have had eight. Personally, I think that is overkill. According to studies, four treatments are not even needed for ITP; that is the standard for lymphoma and just carried through for autoimmune disorders. Sometimes, more is not better.

Sandi sorry for the confusion but I was referring to five full, four infusion regiments. I respond well to the infusions, I was just curious if there was a number where a doctor said no more.

Oh, sorry. No, I haven't ever heard anyone say that their doctor put an end to it. The most I've ever seen is four or five. It's only been around for ITP for about 20 years though so long-term effects from multiple rounds probably isn't available yet.

Rodger,
I am in my fifth round now. The first was in 2007. I asked my doctor the same question and he said as long as it keeps working.

Seems I respond to Rituxan in a similar way to you, remissions of about 2 years each time. Platelets at 275 today up from 19 k after 2 weeks of Rituxan. Tapering off prednisone now.
