I've had mild headaches while using Promacta, but the severity of my headaches have increased. Yesterday I've had a massive migraine. Are headaches and dropping of platelets related? My face are is bright red. Just not always sure what is related to ITP and if it is something else.

Moe, it's normally just the opposite. Headaches are worse with higher counts. In my case, when counts are around 90 and higher, I take a low dose aspirin. This little amount is extraordinarily effective for me. Others (esp steroid responders) have reported not such a great benefit from aspirin. If I wake up in the morning with a headache, that implies some sort of micro clot and I take one full aspirin. The headache has always gone away.

Thanks Hal9000, I'm sure it's just my typical migraine. I'll drink more water and try to relax.

I’m with Hal. When my numbers go up I have incredibly bad headaches. It’s how I know (between CBC’s) where I stand. I’m just coming off a 7 day long perpetual headache that Extra Strength Tylenol could barely touch. I was eating 2 every 4 hours and it was only dulling the pain. At my last CBC I was at 268. I had been bumped from 50 mg of Promacta to 75 and that boost has sent me into overdrive. I’m pretty much self-dosing now, as my CBC’s are every 2 weeks. I can tell when I’m back into manageable territory by my side effects lessening.

I hope you're feeling better Moe1327. Just to confuse things - my headaches always get worse when my counts are low and that's one of the ways I can tell. Funny old world, eh?!
