July 2017 diagnosed with ITP. started on prednisone, but could not tolerate, started taking promacta 25 mg. since. My count has gone up and down, never below 40. Got the flu 2 weeks ago, count went up to 226. Dr. took me down to 1/2 of promacta. Dr. is trying to determine if my body went in to over drive trying to fight off the flu or if I am healed? However after going on 1/2 of pill, I have had really strange side effects. My thumbs are HOT temp wise and feel arthritic, I have large bumps. Painful. almost like I jammed my thumbs, and on my right side my elbow has a large lump on the joint and painful.
What the heck is this????

Are you sure it's related to Promacta?

That is definitely a strange side effect. I haven't heard of anything like that with promacta, but then people can get strange side effects.

What would make me think that it is not promacta, is that you have been taking it for some time without any problem and this only occurred when you cut your dose in half.

You mentioned that you had the flu recently. Is it possible that this triggered some other condition related to your joints? I ended up with ITP as a child after I had a REALLY bad bout with a flu like virus, which some how confused my immune system into developing ITP. Maybe your flu caused something weird with your joints? It would be worth following up with a specialist to see if they have any idea about the joint problems. Or maybe it will clear up as you get better *fingers crossed*

That was exactly my thought....that the flu triggered a Rheumatological problem. Did you take Tamiflu by any chance? That drug has some wicked side effects.
