My Prednisone was imcreased back up to 60 right before I started Rituxan and then tapered as I went on.

I found out today, doc doesn't do any lab tests until after all 4 Rituxan treatments. I've got to wonder now after reading this thread. Perhaps the lab info is irrelevant if treatment would change only if one started having bleeding symptoms.

As Sandi has said, if you are asymptomatic then there is no need to worry. Stay calm. If you get into trouble IVIG would probably quickly correct your count if you are someone who responds to it.

With Rituxan it is altering the balance in your blood and that takes time.

Hal9000, There is a rule all med students learn -- and most forget: Do not order a lab test if the outcome would not change your course of treatment.

Hey D Mann. How are things?
Question. Do you recall being on the tired side after your third (or fourth) treatment?

Hey! Not DMann, but I was very tired until about 2-3 weeks out. Counts up to 155 last CBC!

Holy smokes, it's Barb. Thought you had gone off into Platelet Utopia Land - never to be seen again, LOL

Ok, so I may not be hallucinating with the tiredness? Do you mean 2-3 weeks from first treatment or last treatment?

Ha! No I have been on daily checking but nothing to add! I was tired from about week 2 until about 3 weeks after the last treatment. When was your last count?

You know, haven't given any thought to tiredness until I realized I had slept 11 hours yesterday. Normally sleep 8. Not so bad today. Since last Rituxan is Friday, guess next week may be just as bad as this week.

I did get last Friday's count. LOL, they called me Saturday because it was so low. It was eleven.

At 155 you are definitely a visitor from Platelet Utopia Land, LOL If I were you, I'd definitely let Platelet Euphoria take over and live life normally - once again.

Hopefully your counts will start to respond soon. Almost off prednisone. Down to 2.5 this week and ending at 1.25 next week.

I did not notice being tired except on the day of treatment. I think that had more to do with being tied to an IV bag for 6+ hours and those uncomfortable chairs. My 4th one was over in about 4 hours so it was not so bad.

Now that you mention it D Mann, I have been taking a little nap after treatments. Guess I should just go with it and get as much rest as I can.

Barb 2.5 mg sounds like nothing. Have been able to get off blood pressure meds as well? As I recall, you had to start them just because of the steroids. Thanks for the encouragement.

Yummm, cooked sushi tomorrow night after treatment :)

Yes, 2.5 ends Sunday. Then 1.25 for a week and then 1.25 every other day for a week. Had no issues tapering except for a few days of some mild joint pain and muscles spasms I think back around 7.5 or so. Otherwise, never knew I was on it or coming off. I am on a VERY low dose BP med until I see my doc in April. Not Hemo doc, my primary. It has been around 130/80. Better than the insane readings I got there for a bit. My glucose stayed in my normal range, mid 90's at high dose prednisone, but is now creaping up around 110. Doc says it could be the BP med that has this side effect! Will not take a med to treat glucose caused by a med to treat BP caused by a med to treat ITP!
Hope your numbers start climbing! I am waiting for the real sushi. Maybe March. :)
