Rituxan and a Wedding! was created by Barb111
Since this whole ITP thing started this summer, I have been trying to eat well, etc. actually haven't had a glass of wine. :(
I am going to the wedding of my god daughter this Saturday and I know I can have a glass of champagne using the prednisone and my bp meds. I've asked. Can I have a glass while on Rituxan infusions? And, if not, when can I? My last infusion is 11/11. Like to have one during the holidays.
Thanks!

I don't think there is a problem with alcohol and Rituxan.

Thanks, Sandi! Maybe a glass of champagne will also fulfill my sushi cravings! Lol!

Agree with Sandi....have 2 glasses of champagne if the spirit moves you.

True story (not totally relevant, but indulge me). I went to my once-a-year hematologist appointment in Dec 2014 while fighting a virus/cold, and my platelet count came back at 14K. We decided to to low-dose rituxan (my second round, the first round was in 2008). I went out for happy hour with a friend to lament the crappy count, and we went to a sushi bar, where I had hot sake and sushi. Monday or Tuesday when I arrived for my rituxan tx, my platelet count was 100K.

If I were to avoid something after Rixutan (I haven't) I guess it would be sushi, but I haven't abstained from alcohol since my first round of prednisone in 2001. One of my hematologists over the years even encouraged me to have a glass of red wine every day.

Ha! Funny story! Love it! Yes, the sushi is going to be tough. I can do,without the occasional glass of wine, but was hoping to have a little something this weekend and at the holidays.
Thanks, again!
