Well Kimberly had her first dose of Cytoxan two weeks ago. The first four days after were real bad. Migraine headaches, which we can't say were not still related to the brain bleed, but who knows. Also severe right flank and abdominal pain. Nausea wasn't so bad. A little Zofran and that did the trick. After the first four days she was right as rain. First Dr. appt. platelets were 108K ( started <30K ), HEMO had dropped to 8.2 but more over the white count had dropped and the neutrophil count was borderline low. A week later and the platelets are 200K, HEMO 7.8 and white count had continued to drop.
Dr. wanted to start her on neuprogen then, but she talked him out of it. Agreed to wait 24 hours. Well yesterdays count shows platelets now 300K but it's time to start the neuprogen. White count and neutrophil count real low. Got her first of three daily injections yesterday afternoon about 4:00 PM. By 8:00PM she stated throwing up and didn't stop till almost 11:00. Zotran wouldn't touch it. Also started with severe deep throbbing bone pain. They say the side effects begin to lessen with each injection, but last for 24 to 48 hrs.
Has her next injection today at 1:00. Hopefully tonight is better. She is scheduled for her next course of Cytoxan next Thursday. Still on a pretty high daily dose of steroids, along with everything else, but at least her Dr. agreed to stop the Nplate.
I guess another couple of weeks and we'll know if the chemo has a lasting effect. Still holding our breath hopping no irreversible bad side effects pop up, she's had enough of those already.
Will check back in in a couple of days to let you know how she's doing. In the mean time, good luck to everybody, keep up the fight.

Quick update, just got back from our daily CBC. Unbelievable! One dose of nuepagen and her neutrophil count went from 1.1 to 21.1. No need for a second dose and stop the antibiotics. Platelets 287K, HEMO 8.2. So far so good. See the Dr. again next Wed. and more chemo the following day.
