poseymint wrote: Good news that you lowered your dose Mom and have fewer side effects! Yes I agree that the steady dose of TPOs works best for me too. I have been on the same dose of Nplate for one year now and have done some calculations for my doctor. My average count in that time is 44.3. My low count was 15 and high count 95. Low count was due to missed doses, most of the time counts were above 30.
The year before, everyone was changing my dose- nurses, pharmacist, doc and myself. In 8 weeks my dose was changed 4 times (from 495mcg to 453, back and forth) and my counts crashed twice, down to 3K and 5K. Thats when I asked to lower the dose (412mcg) and keep it the exact same no matter what the count and no matter what I weighed (Nplate is adjusted according to weight of patient). My doctor wasn't thrilled about the idea but went along with it. Since keeping the dose the same, counts have been much more stable and higher overall numbers even with the lower dose. So I'm happy, and feel lucky that my doc will go along with me.
I suspect I lived about 8 to 10 years with a count of 12. No 'ledge' here. Still, have you got some ideas about how to treat (because of blood blisters) while dieting? Or, after you've achieved your diet goals?momto3boys wrote: ... I am having no bad bruising or blood blisters in my mouth, so I'm going to stay the course with what I am doing right now until I become symptomatic with mouth blood blisters.
Yes, 'wacky' highly-reactive platelets at work. Do you think there is a possibility that Promacta will keep blood blisters away - for the foreseeable future?... Lower than I had been running before, but manageable because of lack of symptoms.
