severe and acute itp was created by Elderlyadolescent
I have had itp for 18 months.During this time all forms of medical treatment have failed. These include steroids, rituximab, nplate etc. In addition the use of ivig which originally succeeded in raising my platelet count to around 100 now has no effect. My platelet count is and has been for a while is around 2-3. My present symptoms include bruising, mouth blood blisters, bleeding from the nose. With a count as low as this I am at serious risk of internal bleeding including brain haemhorrage. My consultant has suggested a spleen embolism which I reluctantly am pursuing. My question is simple, has anyone any advise? I would add that I had a liver transplant 3 years ago which has proved very successful.

Sounds like you have been through many of the treatments in a relatively short period of time, but I have to ask you if you have tried Promacta (Eltrombopag) yet? Like Nplate, it is a TPO which stimulates platelet production.

When you say the treatments failed, do you mean that they don't raise your count at all? How long did you try N-Plate?

I have not seen anyone here who has ever had that procedure. It's been mentioned, but I don't remember anyone actually having done it.
