Hi, my 72 years mother has been getting weekly (sometimes every two weeks) Nplate injections for the last 6-7 years. My mother is also on a low dose daily prednisone pill (about 6-7mg). Her number had been very stable until 6 months ago. Her number now is very unpredictable and she has had a few emergency platelet transfusions done at the hospital as a result.
Her doctor is recommending switching her from Nplate to Rituxan.
Has anyone here known of a case like this? Switching from long term Nplate use to Rituxan? Her doctor had admitted that she has never done this type of switch before so my mother will be her first patient case... it makes us kids very uneasy for my mother to be the guinea pig without a plan in place.
Any advice or recommendations will be greatly appreciated!
