I'm 60 and inpatient. First episode at 32 months old, only one as a child. Next episodes in '98, w/splectomy, '10 and for the last four weeks. Dipped to 1K; up to 4K the last two weeks. Did an IVG and have had three NPlate injections, the last one at 240mg on 6-12-15. Anybody w/experience w/this let me know how it went and how long you did it and/or are you still doing it. Also, I recently added at B-Complex w/folic acid also 600mg of Omega 3. Any real world experience w/vitamins and supplements would be appreciated.

Vitamins are fine, but you should be careful of supplements. The Omega's should not be taken if counts are down since they cause platelets to be less sticky and can cause bleeding issues.

There are quite a few here that have used N-Plate, hopefully they will chime in.

Nplate was great for me. Took a long time to get stable but it eventually pushed me into remission. No side effects which made it a great choice. The only supplements I've taken are when a blood test has shown I need it so I can't comment on that.

Dosing on Nplate is dependent on body weight so can't really compare that (although you will mean mcg and not mg!) but it is known that the dose will most likely need to be higher in the asplenic so you may need a much higher dose. Patience is a must with Nplate.

I've never been given NPlate but my current hematologist had me start taking B12 and folate supplements after finding I was deficient in both. My blood levels of those two micronutrients returned to normal within eight weeks but my platelet count stayed where it was (100-120) at the time. So no benefit from those vitamins for my platelet count, and this didn't surprise or concern my hematologist.
