Welcome to 2015
Does anyone have any experience with long-term N-Plate therapy? I have been recieving N-Plate for the past 13 months with varied results on counts. Seems to run above 100 for a few weeks then dip to 50 or lower then back up. I have been recieving 5mcg during most of this time. Platelet counts always seem to drop if I am experiencing any other type of illiness or infections, is this also common amoung N-Plate patients? Thanks for all of your suuport.

Hi,

I'm taking Nplate now for a few years.
Counts drop for me too when I get sick.
A normal cold gets me down by ~50%. A real flu or other problems with the digestive tract can cause a count of ~10. So I try to stay healthy ;)
The few times when I had really low counts with Nplate I had to take up to 20 mg of steroids. But could tamper them relative quickly.

A while ago I heard the rumor that vitamin D helps to improve the results from Nplate. So now I taking vitamin D pills and try to get into the sun on regular intervals. During winter I even go to a tanning salon once or twice a month. Now sure if it really helps (my doc does not think so), but its almost no costs and effort. Why would I not try vitamins if there is even the slightest chance that it helps.
Maybe you want to try that too.

Good luck with your counts!

Cheers,
Joerg
