NPlate side effect? was created by midwest6708
NPlate is the first 'serious' drug I've ever taken, so I have no real experience with side effects from anything.

I've always had painful feet, but I've been able to ignore it by wearing cushiony, supportive shoes for daily activities. For the past 10 days, three months after starting NPlate, the joints of my feet are so painful I can barely wear shoes or even walk. I'm trying to figure out whether my old foot condition has gotten worse, whether I have a new one, or whether side effects of the NPlate are just now kicking in. I found statements that joint pain in the extremities is one of its most common side effects.

Would side effects happen immediately if they were going to, or might their onset be delayed by months' time?

Janet:

Side effects can occur at any time after starting a drug. It's difficult to know the difference between side effects and symptoms of other problems. Maybe a podiatrist would be able to help you.

Hi Janet,

The side effects I have experienced with Nplate is cramping in my hands and feet, pains in my legs (suppose to be bone aches) and head aches. These seem to come and go for no apparent reason. But the worse for me has been the leg pains, generally in my thighs. Sandi's suggestion is a good one because it might not be from the drug. But what I have found is the longer I am on it the severity of the pain has lessened. Hope this was helpful.

Hi Janet,

I'm on Nplate for almost 3 years taking 300mg every week.
I don't have any noticeable side effects at all.

I know I'm lucky to have none. Fingers crossed you are lucky too!

Cheers

Janet,

I was only on NPlate for about 6 months before I thankfully went into remission however during this time the only side effect I experienced was the typical mild headache which was a small price to pay for the benefit I gained from the drug. The headache disappeared a few weeks after I finished my NPlate treatment.
Best wishes
Robert
