What do you do if nothing works? was created by melissumd
Hi, I am still early on in all of this, but one question that has come to mind is, what do you do if nothing works? I've done prednisone, which helped initially but I had a relapse when we started the taper. I've done rituximab and am now 7 weeks past my first dose. It looked like things were going to work with my numbers going up to 135 at five weeks past my first infusion (while still on 40 mg of prednisone), but we dipped to 30 mg of prednisone and two weeks after that my numbers are down to 93. I realize that 93 is still good and not anything to be concerned about. But I'm 35 and I'm just wondering, what if nothing works?

These days, it is extremely rare that nothing will work. Since N-Plate and Promacta came out a few years ago, one of those will usually work if all else has failed. If those don't work, a person just lives with low counts. It can be done, although not ideal.
