NPlate side effects? was created by poseymint
I've been on NPlate since May. First week had bad side effects that went away by the 3rd week. Haven't had much of any side effects since then until...

Week before last I was miserable with myalgia (body aches) joint pain, and paresthesia which is a pricky feeling of nerves firing all over head to toe. That was nearly unbearable, got better by the next week. Now I still have body and joint pain.

Talked to my hemo who didn't think it was NPlate because in his mind the side effects wouldn't appear after 6 mos of no side effects.

I also have been tapering prednisone after being on it for years. I'm down to 1mg. Hemo thought the pred taper was causing the problem and advised to not taper any further- just stay on 1mg for a while.

My question: has anyone had side effects from NPlate appear after months of no side effects? thanks

I'm reading more about steroid withdrawl symptoms and now thinking maybe what I'm experiencing IS prednisone withdrawl and not NPlate. ? I thought NPlate because of the paresthesia. Plus I hadn't been feeling too bad from tapering pred. I had been fatigued but this hit me all of a sudden.

Possibly when I tapered to 1mg I got into adrenal insufficiency.? Also I had a very stressful week which could have contributed- I've noticed stress really wipes me out. anyway.. here is a detailed list of symptoms for anyone interested- these info sites have been so helpful!

When did you taper to 1 mg. and what dose were you on before that? I haven't heard of paresthesia from steroid withdrawal. Didn't you have nerve problems a few years ago? I'd be more inclined to believe the N-Plate side effect theory, if anything. Side effects can appear at any time with any drug. However, stress can cause the body to flare if you have existing connective tissue disorders, so it could be that too. Sometimes it's impossible to connect the dots....I go through that all the time.
