Help with Nplate side effects was created by Jane8
I just started N plate shots ten days ago. The first week my platelets went up from 12,000 to 33,000. I am hoping they rise similarly with the second shot because I need to get a pacemaker put in.

The only problem so far is that a couple days after each shot, I have experienced severe pain in my shoulder/back. Does anyone have any tips for how to deal with this pain?

Well good news is your counts are on the rise! I had a lot of weird back and bone pain. It was a weird painI took Tylenol usually the first two days after, even though I wanted the ibuprofen. At the pdsa conference one doc brought up Celebrex helping some of his patients on Nplate. I thought about asking my doc, but he decided to try Promacta for me. I haven't had any side effects.

Only advice I have is hang in there it sucks when I first started nplate my joints my knees my ankles my shoulders my neck were so bad I would be in tears the first few doses I was prescribed pain pills but it gets better I swear. After about a month or two I was back to normal working out and running it was painful though I always asked my dr what caused that and he'd say it wasn't a known side effect so I would tell him let me shoot you with some nplate and see if it's a side effect lol but I think it is common cause when Iiked up joint pain and nplate it was right there. Try to see if they will write you script for pain meds and only take them when the pain is really bad. Hope it gets better :)

Thank you so much! It's good to know that someone else has gone thru this and come out the other side. The pain is so intense while it's happening though.

It IS actually listed as a side effect on the Nplate site, so your doctor just wasn't aware.

Thanks for caring enough to answer!
