Due for surgery so going onto Pred. was created by mobilekatz
I discovered back at Easter that I have Gall stones, and am booked to have a Laproscopic Cholecystectomy which will hopefully be by Keyhole
My platelets normally sit in the high 40-mid 50's but since having the gallstones- and the chronic infection that goes with them they have sat around 40, so they wont do surgery unless they go up

After speaking with my Haematologist the plan is for me to start Pred this week, to give me 4 weeks to try get decent levels as the hospital have said they really want my platelets over 75, if after 3 weeks this is not working they will consider IV immunoglobulin.

I will admit I am dreading the steroids, having heard so many horror stories, and am also worrying about the surgery anyhow. But I want the gallstones out, as I have been feeling rotten because of them, and have been back on Anti-biotics a few times due to them rumbling away.
- makes me wonder how long they have been there, but my normally low energy levels keep really dropping!

Has anyone else had a Lap-Chole, and any suggestions for dealing with Pred side effects?

Many thanks!
