Just got the word today! Rituxan is covered!

I start treatment on July 31. Now to decide what to do about work. I work every other Thursday night. I work the 31 and booked a stat day on the 1st. Just not sure I'll be feeling up to working that night.

Might see if I can do a switch with my co-worker first. I'm not sure the doctor is planning on premeds if he does than I could sleep and maybe work the night. Last time I had a reaction on the first dose. This would mean I'd have to tell my boss about the treatment so I could request it off.

Oh well at least I am finally getting it!

Great news, Julia! It would be a good idea to get some sleep before working and you should get pre-meds.....wouldn't want Rituxan without them!

Julia

Finally! Good news for you. I have had rituxan 3 times and had a reaction during the first infusion each time. Hope you can take the day off. It would be nice for you to not worry about having to go to work.

Hoping for another long remission for you!

Sandi I'm not sure he's got premeds planned. I will tell you know if he doesn't I'll yelling for him through the halls until he does!

My thoughts are that dru that I will react again with this first one. Just not sure at this point if I will be allowed to book off! Too many of us off already!

Hi Winnifred,

Tomorrow I get my 4th Rituxin treatment. Each time I am given pre-meds before they begin the infusion - I think that is standard. This treatment has been easy for me. Each time I have felt differently afterwards but nothing major and no real side effects. The hardest thing for me is to sit for that long. I take a book and my tablet but I still get bored and am really anxious to leave during the last half hour. So don't forget to take something that keeps you occupied!

Good luck to you and I hope your experience is like mine. :)

Update!

Clarified with the office Yes I qualify for rituxan but doctor has not yet scheduled treatment. Here's hoping at the appointment he will be telling me I get it and wanting to set up the treatments!

No Melindsa I did not mean that I just meant I have no idea what this doctor is planning. He says one thing one time and something another. Went for the appointment today that I confirmed treatment not scheduled and cancelled the shift I switched with my co-worker. Than it turns out he was planning on treatment today. So I explained I'm working tonight and can't take time off so I couldn't do it!

Treatment will be scheduled for next Thursday and the following 3 after that.

We talked about pre-treating and how I had a reaction. I mentioned about how some people have a worse first time reaction the second time around. Got the usual chat about not listening to other's and how 1 person has a bad reaction and tells everyone. I also explained that we here do a serious amount of reading of studies and such. After a few minutes of me counteracting his statement. The plan is as follows IV steriod benadryl and tylenol before than treatment.

I will be packing my own personal Benadryl and tylenol since he's said pre-treatment before and not done it!
